Third Embryo Transfer Experiment was undertaken at NIAS Conservation Center, Thuy Phuong on 17 October, 2018
Third embryo transfer (ET) experiment was undertaken at NIAS Conservation Center, Thuy Phuong on 17 October 2018. Following two previous experiments undertaken in June and August this year, zygotes produced by the Project team using landrace oocytes and Ban sperm were transferred to three landrace sows by surgical procedures.
Prior to ET, estrus synchronization was performed on the recipient sows to prepare them for ET. However, estrus synchronization using hormone is not very easy, and deviation of subtle timing affects the level of fertility of the recipient sows. The condition of three recipient sows this time was not perfect. There is a need to adjust methods depending on the condition of the recipient sows.
Two Japanese experts of ET lead the procedures and showed every step and technique of ET to Vietnamese team. As a result of the three experiments conducted so far in 2018, Vietnamese team has acquired good understanding of ET procedures and their techniques and knowledge enhanced substantially.
In 2019, the Project will undertake 6 experiments of ET of Ban embryos.
