2nd Model Farmers Training was held on 19-21 December, 2016

Following the 1st training held for model farmers on 11-15 October, the 2nd training was organized on 19-21 December, 2016 inviting Japanese researchers.

In this training, Dr. Hayashi shared the good results of the feeding experiment carried out from Sep 2015 – June 2016, and said that the piglets are weaned much earlier than traditional practice, and that way, the mother sow was able to increase productivity. The more the mother sow delivers each year, the more income the farmer can earn. As Dr. Hayashi discussed how farmers can achieve that, farmers were eager to learn.

In the practicum sessions, farmers learned how to prepare the place for delivery, with special attention to disease control and prevention. They actually practiced cleaning the floor with deck brush, spraying disinfectant and lime powder, and learned how to welcome and raise health piglets.
